Operation Transformation leader Cathal Gallagher last night shocks viewers with an incredible 16-pound weight loss in one week.
The 48-year-old Ballyshannon man is the heaviest leader ever on the RTE show but has made an amazing start on his weight-loss recovery.
Cathal, who works as a paramedic, stepped on the scales and weighed in at 25 stone and 8 pounds – revealing he had shed over a stone.
Cathal watched himself on the show last week, and didn’t like what he saw on the screen which has him even more determined to succeed.
After watching Operation Transformation from last week, Cathal said: “First and foremost I’m not pretty. I’m a big, big, big man.
“I’m trying to think of an actor, someone I have seen on the TV that size and I can’t think of anybody.
The Donegal man has been working out hard from home
“That wasn’t pleasant to look at. That’s a reality check. I’m a cardiac arrest waiting to happen.”
Personal trainer Karl Henry was chuffed with the paramedic’s start, saying: “Cathal, you taken two inches off your waistline. It’s a phenomenal start.”
Cathal’s target for next week will be four pounds – with Aoife Hearne altering Cathal’s meal plan to ensure he safely stays on.
