Shane McGinty netted one of the goals as Ballymena put Dundela to the sword 3-1 in the Irish Cup on Saturday.
The emphatic display was largely comfortable for David Jeffrey’s side, but a late Dundela rally made for an interesting final third.
McGinty opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Anthony Kane missed from 12-yards, but the Donegal man was on call for the rebound.
Five minutes later, with 15 minutes on the clock, Ballymena took a 2-0 lead through Adam Lecky.
However, with just over half an hour to go, the Belfast side pulled one back when T.J Murray guided one beyond Ross Glendinning.
Ballymena almost threw it all away when Dundela were awarded a penalty after 75 minutes, but Glendinning proved the hero with an excellent save.
Making them pay, the Northern Irish Premiership challengers scored their third goal to end the contest and book their place in the next round.
