The Resource Centre Bowling Club in St. Johnston is on a roll thanks to new green shirts and fleece jackets provided by team sponsor Paul Harkin of Harkin’s Gala in the village.
Members of the 11-member squad expressed gratitude for the new kit, which will help them present a united front during competitions in the D.M. Waste Bowling League.
Dermot Browne, a club member, whose Alphonsus was the founder of the club a decade ago, said: “We appreciate all that Paul has done. It’s very, very good now.”
The businessman also sponsors the Kildrum Tigers Youth Football Club and other community initiatives in the area.
“Sure, it’s local,” said Harkin. “It’s good to be able to do something.”
Members of the Bowling Club, which is fifth in the league at the moment, are hoping the new uniform will inspire a surge of sustained success in upcoming matches.
“We been up and down like a yo-yo,” said club member John McCrossan. “We win at home but lose away.”
