In spite of winning the Ulster SFC and McKenna Cup, Caolan Ward says Donegal ‘came up short’ in 2018 – and the St Eunan’s man is ‘hungry’ to improve next year.
Ward turned in a fine display in a routine win and hopes to earn a permanent place in Declan Bonner’s plans for the 2019 season, which gets underway in two weeks’ time against Queen’s University.
“It’s a matter of building on where we finished last year,” Ward told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“To an extent, yeah a great season, and we won trophies, but we probably came up short in our expectation of where the season was going to finish. If we can build on that and push on in 2019 then we’ll be happy.”
