The Minister for Education Joe McHugh visited Illistrin NS on Friday to discuss future plans to accommodate pupils, staff and the school community.
The Minister was updated on progress on the proposed school extension and visited some of the temporary accommodation.
McHugh held a brief meeting with representatives of the Board of Management, Parents’ Association and senior members of staff.
Issues raised included necessary improvements to school accommodation and the planned extension to the school, school funding, initiative overload, terms and conditions for special needs assistants and ancillary staff.
The two-tier pay scale for newly qualified teachers and the review of special education needs allocation for schools in 2019 was also reviewed.
