A Donegal schoolboy has shown the Christmas Spirit of Giving by presenting the Oncology Unit in Letterkenny Hospital with €1,500.
Logan Melly, 9, told his parents he wanted to help cancer patients this holiday season by raising money through a Christmas fundraiser.
The Lettermacaward native had the kind-hearted belief he could raise enough money to cure everybody.
With the support of his parents, Janet and Felix Melly, ‘Logan Melly’s Take your Pick’ was sparked into life last weekend.
The idea, which saw Logan have his own booth at the Christmas fair at the Halla Naomh Bríde, involved selling raffle tickets with the aim of getting your number drawn to win one of the 25 prizes on offer.
A wide variety of goods ranging from homemade crafts, including wooden snowmen and Christmas logs, homemade baking and sponsored prizes were on display for the worthy cause.
Writing on Facebook, Logan’s mother, Janet, said she was ‘so proud’ of her son and his idea.
“We are so proud of our son Logan,” she said. “Logan came to us a few weeks back and said he would like to do something to help people with cancer, his belief was if he could make enough money he could cure everybody, if only it worked like that.
“None of this would have been possible without the support of everybody that donate prizes. Thanks once again for your amazing support.”
On Sunday, Logan presented the Hospital with the final cheque, thanking everybody for their incredible support.
