Over one hundred people gathered in the Radisson Hotel, Letterkenny on Thursday to receive a wide range of awards from Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training (FET) Services.
Certificates were presented in a wide range of programmes and subject areas for adult learners who achieved certification in a full-time and part-time programme over the last year.
Speaking at the awards, Cróna Gallagher, Director of FET, Donegal ETB congratulated all the learners saying: “I’m delighted to be able to share in their achievements. The certification they have received here tonight will now open up many more progression options to them within the world of work or further and higher education and training.”
A number of learners also spoke on the night about their experience of completing a FET course with Donegal ETB. These included Ciara Mc Elroy (Leaving Certificate), Marie Mitchell (ICT), Piaras Buchanan (Software Developer), Elilish Browne (Payroll), Dean Kane (Java Foundations), Susan O Donnell (Business Management) and Fran Duffy (Surf Instructor).
Donegal ETB Chairperson, Cllr Martin Hanley, who presented the awards said: “It’s an honour to present awards to so many adults and I would like to congratulate each and every one of them on their achievements.”
Many of the FET awards were co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.
