Jason Gibson wasn’t too downbeat today as Bonagee United went down narrowly to derby rivals Letterkenny Rovers.
Bonagee have lost to only Cockhill and Letterkenny – both on 1-0 scorelines – this year.
Having been left to reflect on the ‘what ifs’ from the Cockhill reversal last month, there was no such sentiment this afternoon at Leckview Park, where BJ Banda struck the only goal of the game.
“Being brutally honest, a lot different after the Cockhill defeat where I thought we could have got something out of it and could even have won it,” Gibson said.
“Today, the better side won, it’s as simple as that. They managed the game well and we didn’t do enough in the final third.”
Gibson hinted that he could recruit some new blood to add to his ranks when the transfer window opens next month and added: “We have to remember where we came from.
“We’ve lost to Cockhill and Letterkenny on one-goal deficits so, remembering where we came from, we can’t be too disappointed.”
