A call for a second full-time ambulance for the Inishowen Peninsula is to be made at a special meeting today.
Public representatives from Donegal will meet with members of the National Ambulance Service to discuss the situation.
At present just one ambulance which is based in Carndonagh covers the entire peninsula in the case of an emergency.
The issue was highlighted recently during the inquest of the late Maura Porter.
Mrs Porter died in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry after she had to wait 50 minutes for an ambulance to attend to her after being knocked down close to her home in Carndonagh.
