A Co Donegal hotel is to accommodate more than 100 people seeking refuge in Ireland in the coming weeks.
The Caiseal Mara Hotel in Moville is to house the people who are expected to arrive in the next three to four weeks.
The hotel had previously been on the market with a guide price of €450,000.
The Department of Justice confirmed that the group will be part of the Direct Provision process being offered by people from outside the state seeking international protection in Ireland.
The direct provision system was established in 2000 to house asylum seekers entering the Irish State in search of international protection.
It was initially described as an “interim” system which would provide accommodation for a six month period while people awaited an outcome on their application.
The provision gives accommodation and other services to these people while their applications are being processed.
The contract agreed between the Department of Justice and the Caiseal Mara Hotel is understood to be for an initial period of one year.
