Michael Murphy was delighted to see his LyIT girls get off the mark for a first win of the season today.
“We have a really good bunch driving it on,” Murphy, in his second year at the helm of the Port Road students, said.
“It’s difficult for them. They’re trying to get an education in there too.
“They’re staying committed and coming out to training. There’s a brilliant facility there for them and we try to keep training enjoyable and use as much of the ball as possible.”
There’s been a big turnover in players from last season to this, but Murphy has been pleased with how his team has improved following narrow losses against Dundalk and DCU in their opening two games.
He said: “The girls came out and not a lot of them were playing much football recently. It was about getting them out and going. There’s been improvement from game to game and that’s all you can ask for through the League.”
