Finn Harps fans have a chance to toast promotion with one of the club’s loyal servants on Saturday night as defender Ciaran Coll celebrates his testimonial.
Coll is already 12th on the all-time list of Harps appearances. The 27-year-old St Johnston man has been at Harps since 2009, when he was recruited by Paul Hegarty.
Coll has been instrumental as Harps have returned to the Premier Division and gave a typically composed display on Friday night when Harps overcame Limerick to seal a place back in the top flight.
Coll’s testimonial dinner dance takes place on Saturday night at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny.
Tickets for Coll’s big bash, priced at €40, are on sale at outlets across the county (Radisson Letterkenny; Heel 2 Toe, Letterkenny; Kernan’s Newtowncunningham; Applegreen, Lifford; Michael Murphy Sports, Letterkenny; and Balor Theatre, Ballybofey) and it’s a dream end to the campaign for the left-back.
He said: “It’s one of the things I wanted for myself as well as the team, to finish off my tenth year on a high.”
Coll follows fellow Harps legends like Peter Hutton senior, Jim McDermott, Con McLaughlin, John Gerard McGettigan, Jonathan Minnock and Kevin McHugh, who have been awarded testimonials.
Finn Harps Chairman Sean Quinn said: “Ciaran has been a terrific servant to Finn Harps over the last 10 years.
“He has always maintained a high level of performance and we hope everyone recognises his loyalty to the club by supporting his testimonial events.”
A statement from Harps this afternoon added: “Finn Harps would like to wish Ciaran Coll every success with the Gala Dinner on Saturday night and to acknowledge his loyalty to our club in the League of Ireland over the past ten years.
“It was great to see Ciaran playing his part in getting Harps promoted back to the Premier Division.”
The Ciaran Coll Testimonial Committee is partnering with the Donegal Community Inclusion Hub who will be benefit from the proceeds of the Gala Dinner Dance which should prove to be a very special occasion after that memorable win in Limerick last weekend.
