Declan Coulter says Donegal hurlers want to prove that they’re in Division 2B and the Christy Ring Cup on ‘merit’ in 2019.
Donegal defeated Derry, Down and Armagh this year – their first ever wins at Division 2B level – to stave off the threat of relegation.
“We were a surprise package in the League this year and caught some on the hop. We won’t have that next year.
“Survival will be the aim and consolidate the place and show we’re here on merit. We don’t want to be a yo-yo team.”
It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Armagh native, who plays for Setanta, following the birth of a son, Thomas, on Thursday-week last.
Along with Donegal team-mate Stephen Gillespie, Coulter was named on the Nicky Rackard/Lory Meagher Team of the Year.
He said: “No-one sets out at the start of the year to win personal award. It’s all about the team. And it was a team effort against Warwickshire. It was nice to stand ups there and represent all the Donegal boys.”
