A photography exhibition launches in Letterkenny tonight shining a light on male characters of the town.
The ‘Jucks Exhibition’ is the result of a year-long photography project by local artist and designer Patrick Sweeney (pictured above).
Sweeney has captured 365 local men’s portraits for the project which aims to raise awareness of men’s physical and mental health.

Sweeney explains: “The concept is that 365 days of the year it is an issue, not just when events are taking place, for men to talk about their feelings and issues and seek professional advice when needed and break down the stigma of men’s’ attitude towards opening up.”
Sweeney said that through the photographing of everyday men from the town, the campaign seeks to serve as a reminder that this type of suffering does not discriminate and that it can be a cross to bear for anyone.
The colloquial name ‘Jucks’ has been given to the exhibition to enhance the local focus on men in the area.
The photos will be unveiled at a launch event tonight in the Letterkenny Regional Cultural Centre at 7pm.
All pictures are for sale on a donation basis on the night and during the entire run of the exhibition of the month of November ending 30th. Money raised will be donated to Pieta House.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Cllr Gerry McMonagle. Presentations will be made by representatives of Pieta House and DLDC Donegal Community Sync Health Project.
