Watch: ‘Gutted’ Amber Barrett denied with THREE penalty claims in Cup final loss

A ‘gutted’ Amber Barrett felt she should have had at least one penalty in yesterday’s WFAI Cup final at Aviva Stadium.

The Peamount striker had three penalty claims during a game that saw her side beaten by Wexford Youths.

Katrina Parrock’s fine volley in the first half was the only game of a cracking final.

But for Barrett and Peamount there was a bitter taste in the aftermath.

“We’re very disappointed,” the Milford woman said.

“The chances didn’t really come for us on the day., We had a couple of half chances that we could have done better with. Wexford had one big chance and took it.”

Just before half-time, Barrett appeared to be barged over …

She said: “I thought the first one was a penalty. I asked the referee and she said it was shoulder-to-shoulder. Unless my shoulders moved, I don’t think it was shoulder-to-shoulder. I think there were one or two definite shouts for a penalty.”

There was drama late in the game when Barrett again went to ground …

Barrett said: “At that time of the game, you’re just looking for anything. It’s difficult to take it all in. I’m just gutted.”
