A local fundraiser will be held by Cloughaneely Band on Sunday, November 18 at 2pm in Gortahork Hall and they have appealed to the public for their help and support.
The band, who led the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Liverpool this year, are a great asset to the local community and are in need of financial support in order to keep the band going for another year at least.
A spokesperson said the cost of running the band is a very difficult financial commitment, with the cost increasing to over €40,000 last year.
They are now calling on friends, family and the wider public to donate what they can.
“If anybody has any unwanted clothes, toys, bric-a-brac, books or any home bakers that would like to donate, we would greatly appreciate it.
“Items can be brought to the Gortahork hall during band practice on Thursdays from 6.30pm-8.30pm or else to the hall as it will be opened 2-4pm on Saturday, November 17.
“We ask everybody to get the word out to all families and friends, grandparents and aunts and uncles as the sale of work is a great benefit to the running of the band and is one of our main fundraisers every year and we want to make it a successful event.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all most sincerely for all your support and hope we make this a successful year for all band members and committee.”
