Fianna Fáil has called on the firm that runs Irish Water should take control of the National Broadband Plan.
The party wants Ervia to be put in charge of the rollout of high-speed broadband across the country.
According to the Irish Independent, the future of the Government could now depend on the administration’s ability to salvage the plan from the brink of collapse.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Marian Finucane programme, Leo Varadkar said it could be a few years before every house in Ireland has access to broadband.
Mr Varadkar said the Government was at a very advanced stage on agreeing to a broadband contract and would know the situation in the next few weeks.
