The game started at a good pace and the first chance fell to Patrick McGinley after 10 minutes when he fried over the Fanad bar when well placed.
Fanad started to push after that and took the lead in the 25th minute.
When they were awarded a free kick 25 yards out, Paul Bradley stepped up and hit a superb shot into the top corner.
The lead however only lasted two minutes as Dunfanaghy hit back. After a surge down the right, Carlos O’Reilly hit a superb ball into the box which was tapped home by Calvin Murray.
Three minutes into the second half Murray missed a good chance to give Dunfanaghy the lead but his back post header was easily saved.
In the 55th minute Fanad keeper Eoghan Jordan produced a superb saved to deny Patrick McGinley. Dunfanaghy then took the lead two minutes later when Ruan Dewer headed over the onrushing Eoghan Jordan after a long ball from midfield.
Fanad pushed hard for an equaliser and with time running out Oisin Cannon made an excellent save to deny Bernard McGettigan
