A new TV series will be celebrating the creative young minds in a Donegal Gaelscoil this week.
Ár Scéal on TG4 will be featuring up to three Gaeltacht schools in the county from now until Christmas.
In the first episode, cameras will be exploring the corridors of Scoil Chnoc na Naomh primary school in Doire Chonaire, Gortahork.
The new and original Irish show will see presenter Úna Ní Fhlatharta visiting the Chnoc na Naomh in her funky art-filled van to collect a story that has been lovingly illustrated by the children themselves.
Úna and the school children have fun creating and designing their very own dragons before the storytelling. Úna even shows her friends how to make dragon heads.
The Donegal pupils will draw inspiration from their unique story to create imaginative and innovative artwork that will allow the story to come alive.
Meangadh Fíbín, the series producers, are also delighted to introduce Niamh Ní Fhátharta, a fresh new animator from the Aran Islands, who has taken the childrens’ art work and created a wonderful animation to complement their story.
Darach Ó Tuairisg, producer with Meangadh Fíbín said “We are extremely proud about this exciting series which connects Cúla4 na nÓg and TG4 with its young audience. We hope the viewer will have as much fun watching the series as we had producing it. Young people’s programming is a key element of public broadcasting and it’s great to see TG4 embracing this. This series shows young people on screen and highlights both the diversity and similarities of young Irish speakers from all over the country.”
The first episode of Ár Scéal airs on Monday 29th October at 9.15am on Cúla 4 na nÓg, TG4.
