Donegal’s Men’s Sheds will be on display next Tuesday at special showcase event in Castlefin CPI where everyone is welcome to attend.
This event is being held as part of the national Reuse Month where people are being encouraged to repair, reuse and refurbish items rather than just throwing them away.
“We are delighted to have this event as part of Reuse Month here in Donegal,” says Suzanne Bogan, Waste Awareness Officer with Donegal County Council.
“The Men’s Sheds initiative is an excellent example of how best to reuse, refurbish and repair items that might otherwise go to landfill.”
The event will kick off at 11am with a performance by the Finn Valley’s Mens Choir and there will be some very interesting taster demonstrations including a demonstration by Urs Harttung from Bearfoot Enterprises who will be show the audience how to make musical instruments from waste materials and Brendan Farren from Big Green Art who will be doing a demonstration on basket making and woodwork while a representative from Tinky Vintage will be looking at how to upcycle furniture and decoupage.
The Irish Heart Foundations Mobile Health Unit will also be there providing free blood pressure checks and there will be representatives there from the Irish Men’s Shed Association and the Cancer Screening Promotion Advisor from the Irish Cancer Society.
Admission is free and the event starts at 11am and everyone is welcome.
