There has been a huge outpouring of grief following the sudden and untimely death of well-known Donegal priest Fr Seamus Gallagher.
A larger than life character who was a native of Dungloe, Fr Gallagher passed away in his sleep today (Thurs) leaving a huge sense of sadness in the Donegal community stretched around the globe.
Having been ordained to the priesthood in 1985, Fr Seamus was parish priest in Frosses when he passed away.
He also served in many other parishes throughout Donegal including Doochary, Tory Island, Stranorlar, Lettermacaward, Gaoth Dobhair, Glemcolmcille and Newtowncunningham.
His friend Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher led tributes to Fr Gallagher.
He said “A dark cloud hangs over Frosses and his native Dungloe since the sad news broke of Fr Seamus sad and untimely passing. At lámh dheis Dé ata sé.”
Details of Fr Gallagher’s funeral have yet to be announced.
