The Donegal Youth Service Volunteer Forum has launched a new handbook as part of their first meeting of the year.
The Volunteer Forum had their first meeting of the 2018/2019 Youth Club Year on October 1st. The forum, which is made up of representatives of each of the affiliated countywide youth clubs and projects across the membership of Donegal Youth Service came together to launch the new ‘DYS Youth Outreach Project – Youth Club Handbook’.
The Volunteer Forum said goodbye to outgoing Chairperson Mary McFadden, from Club Óige Chríost Rí in Magheroarty/Machaire Rabhartaigh, and welcomed the incoming Chairperson Shaun Dorrian from Fanad Youth Club.
There are over 20 Donegal Youth Service affiliated youth clubs around the county, offering various activities, training, and opportunities to young people of different ages. From arts and crafts, to performing arts, sports, open door drop in, and personal development.
Have you considered volunteering for your local youth club? Or even considered setting up a youth club in your area? If you are over 18 and have a few hours to spare every week you can help create a safe space for young people to socialise and have fun. You can make a real difference.
The Youth Outreach Project at Donegal Youth Service can provide training in Youth Leadership, Child Safeguarding, Health & Safety and more to youth clubs. All volunteers are Garda Vetted. There are different types of youth clubs you can set up. They can be single issue based, sports or music based, LGBTI, performance, drop-in youth spaces and lots more.
For information about volunteering, or setting up a youth club please contact Charlene Logue, Youth Outreach Manager at 074 91 29630. Donegal Youth Service are a countywide youth organisation.
