Former Donegal manager Mickey Moran was back on the line with Urris on Saturday evening as the Inishowen men overcame St Mary’s, Convoy to reach the Junior Championship final.
Urris 3-04 St Mary’s, Convoy 0-11
Alan Friel netted a pair of goals in the opening quarter as Urris had five points to spare and the goals proved the big deciders in the game.
Dean Kelly bagged another three-pointer for Shaun Paul Doherty’s side and the Crampsey Park outfit are back in the final.
Moran, who has worked with Urris previously, has been among the backroom team again in recent weeks and the experienced Maghera native was present again at The Scarvey yesterday.
Friel connected to Mark McLaughlin’s pass for the opening goal and the pair combined again for Friel’s second major.
Convoy hit back and drew level late in the half through Paddy Dolan and John Toye, but Urris led when John McCarron sailed over.
12 minutes into the second half, Kelly batted home Urris’ third goal.
Laurence McMullan’s Convoy had a couple of goal chances, but Urris held firm with Michael Grant denying John A Kee with a brilliant goal-line block.
