A spirited team of volunteers from businesses and groups in Donegal are preparing for a very different kind of Friday night on the town this evening.
North West Simon Community annual ‘Sleep Out’ is taking place this 5th October in Letterkenny, Market Square from 9pm up into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Volunteers across the Donegal region from all walks of life will brave the elements into the early hours of Saturday morning with the aim to help make a difference for Simon in their Community.
Since January of this year the North West Simon Community has dealt with over 131 cases, many were families with young children. Fifty four individual presentations were made for housing support in the Donegal region. This represents a 25% increase in presentations from the previous 12 months.
The North West Simon Community provides vital services that will minimise the duration and impact on those unfortunate enough to be at risk of losing their home or have been made temporarily homelessness.
There are a variety of ways the public can support the annual Sleep Out in Letterkenny.
Collette Ferguson, Donegal Development Officer of NWSC, said:
“Thank you to the businesses in Donegal who have Sponsored a Volunteer by ‘Adopting a Sleeper’ for the night. If any business, organisation or individuals would still like to ‘Adopt a Sleeper’ or wish to make a donation can do so directly on: https://give.everydayhero.com/ie/annual-n-w-simon-sleep-out-5th-oct
