Big congratulations to team captain Martin Duffy and the rest of his minor league team in their victory last Saturday over Buncrana GC.
Starting the home leg on Saturday on the back of a very strong performance in Buncrana a week earlier, the team still had a job to do and did it in style, even without a couple of the team’s strongest players!
Recently deceased Arthur Morrison was a lifelong servant of the club and would have been very proud to see the wee club taking the title Donegal Minor League Winners 2018.
We can now look forward to a presentation by the Donegal County Golf Committee of the pennant to hang proudly in the clubhouse among the other displays showing past achievements of Otway golfers.
One sure sign that the summer is truly over is when members compete in the Sunday Turkey scrambles, and yes folks October has arrived and this coming Sunday, October 7, the first of the turkeys will be played for.
The scrambles are open to members and non-members, mixed teams of ladies and gents, and teams will be decided by drawing for partners, who will be ‘seeded’ based on handicaps.
Names should be into the clubhouse by 12.45 for a 1:00pm sharp tee off. Players turning up at 1:00 pm without first phoning in their names for the draw will not be able to enter the competition, as this would require a new draw for partners to be made.
