Two kittens which were thrown from a speeding car on the main Letterkenny to Derry road have recovered from their ordeal and found new homes.
The kittens, named Nathan and Niall, were thrown in a cardboard box onto the side of the road back in June.
Of the four kittens cruelly discarded, one died from its ordeal and another was rescued by a passer-by.
The well-known Donegal animal charity, Animals in Need, took in the other two kittens and have now rehomed them.
A spokesman from Animals in Need takes up the story.
“Aged only a few weeks both boys, along with two of their siblings (sadly one was killed whilst the other was rescued by another passerby) were thrown from a car moving at considerable speed on the Derry to Letterkenny road.
“Such shocking cruelty, an act that was indeed intended to cause serious injury or death.
“Thankfully these two survived that ordeal due to the quick reaction of people on the scene which included one of our volunteers and her husband.
“They were traumatised as you would expect. They developed serious cat flu and eye infection, possibly due to stress. They have spent the past 3 months in loving foster care being nursed back to health and trust building to become the happy, healthy boys they are today.
“They are boisterous, fun loving, cuddly affectionate kittens now ready to start a new chapter in their story. They are now seeking their forever home, a home where they can stay together as bonded brothers.
“They eat together, they play together and they sleep together. After everything they have been through, it’s not a wonder they are so bonded.
“Both boys are neutered, wormed and vaccinated.”
An appeal which was posted on the charity’s Facebook page looking for a home for Nathan and Niall had a huge reaction and the two kittens have now been rehomed.
