Donegal Minister Joe McHugh has announced that two Irish language primary schools in Donegal are to get extra classrooms as part of Government funding.
New extensions will be added to Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin in Letterkenny and Scoil Cholmcille in Termon.
The Letterkenny Gaelscoil will get an addition of two new classrooms, while Scoil Cholmcille in Termon will benefit from an additional classroom, a new toilet for assisted users and a new Special Educational Teaching room.
On the announcement, Minister McHugh said: “The Gaelscoil in Letterkenny continues to go from strength to strength and I am delighted to announce the addition of two new classrooms and ensuite toilets there.
“This will add significantly to Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin where extensions and improvement works have already taken place in recent years.
“In Termon I am delighted to say approval has been given for an additional mainstream classroom with ensuite toilets, a new toilet for assisted users and a new Special Educational Teaching room.
“These are important developments for both schools and I want to thank Minister for Education and Cabinet colleague Richard Bruton for approving these applications.”
“Comhghairdeas mór don dhá scoil seo as a gcuid iarrachtaí, agus guím gach rath orthu amach anseo.”
The Department of Education will formally contact the schools this week. The amount of funding allocated is withheld by the Department until the tendering process is complete.
