The LYIT Careers & Postgraduate Studies Fair is a must for students, graduates and anyone considering a career change.
Employers and students continue to benefit from the Northwest’s largest Career & Postgraduate Studies Fair at Letterkenny Institute of Technology, which will take place this year at the Letterkenny campus on Monday 22 October from 12-3pm.
This flagship event now in its 15th year is an integral part of the LYIT calendar. The Careers & Postgraduate Studies Fair supports all LYIT students and graduates considering their career options.
This event also provides an excellent opportunity for career changers or those returning to the workplace to assess the current jobs market and for budding entrepreneurs to obtain valuable advice on their next steps.
Over 70 employers, universities and colleges, professional bodies and voluntary organisations will take part in this year’s event.
Many of this year’s exhibitors are returning participants to the LYIT event. Catherine Lyster, Careers Officer and event organiser commented: “This event is the largest careers event in the Northwest, the range and calibre of recruiters attending this year’s event is exceptional. We have recruiters and employers from a broad range of sectors including IT, Pharmaceutical, Finance, Social Care services, Design, Hospitality and Telecommunications providers.”
Catherine further added, “So many of the employers attending this event are returning participants of the event. The employers continue to return to this event because of past success in securing graduates with practical abilities and skills required by the recruiters.”
Careers being recruited for at the event include App Developers, Food Scientists, Project Specialists, Data Analysts, Quantity Surveyors, Marketing Specialists, administrators and much more.
One such employer is Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Stephen Maguire, university graduate co-ordinator said: “AWS has been taking part in LYIT’s Career & Postgraduate Studies Fair for the past few years. This event has been a hugely successful event for AWS and we always meet fantastic students from every discipline. This event provides AWS with an opportunity to network with talented interns and graduates from Computer Sciences and Engineering in particular.
Mr Maguire added: “Last year, AWS met 2 of our LYIT graduates at the careers fair, the connection made at the fair meant the students met with AWS and could get to know the company before they decided to apply.
“The skills the LYIT graduates have shown in AWS is amazing, each of them have hit the ground running and been incredible success stories for the Student Programs team. We massively value the LYIT careers team for all their help and for providing a brilliant careers fair every year!”
In addition to graduate employment opportunities, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a broad range of postgraduate course providers from Ireland and the UK, with offerings from broad range of disciplines including teaching, physiotherapy, human rights law to name but a few…

In addition to the main hall event, a number of seminars will take place during the day, including a talk about Teaching in the UK, careers in accountancy.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to avail of the ever popular CV Clinic where they can have their CV or personal statement reviewed by career experts free of charge. A giant jobs wall featuring a vast array of graduate vacancies can be viewed in the main exhibition area.
