Neil McGee says Gaoth Dobhair should be as hungry for success as anyone.
Gaoth Dobhair – who meet MacCumhaills in a semi-final next weekend – haven’t been champions since 2006 when they won the last of their 14 crowns.
“This group has won nothing,” McGee said.
“We should be as hungry as MacCumhaills. Why would we not be hungry? This team hasn’t won anything. We won a League, but who remembers winning a League this last few years.
“It’s all about Championship – and we’re as hungry as the next team.”
Gaoth Dobhair haven’t come close to reclaiming the title since they defeated St Eunan’s in the 2006 final, but let a six-point lead slip against Naomh Conaill in a semi-final last year.
McGee said: “We always had a talented squad, but it’s pulling together now.We just said at the start of the year that we’d stick together and build this.”
A goal-crazy quarter-final saw Gaoth Dobhair storm to victory and McGee added: “Bundoran could have come and parked the bus. Realistically, we’d have beaten them if it had been defensive because we’re playing that kind of game all year. They came and had a go. The spaces were there and we attacked the spaces.”
