OWASP (Web Application Security Project) is a worldwide not-for-profit charitable organization focused on improving the security of software and providing an unbiased source of information on best practices. It also operates as an active body advocating open standards in the Software Security space.
The first OWASP Chapter Meet event was described as a success, attracting well over 100 attendees from the LYIT and other Letterkenny based companies showing the huge local interest and support.
Guest speakers included: Gerard Grant, Timothy Kelley, Gary Robinson and Ruth Lennon.
Future meetings are set to be held on a regular basis, according to OWASP Letterkenny Chapter Leader Gyan Panigrahy and Chapter organizers Veronica Cryan, Edward Crawford, Anthony Caldwell, Virginia Lee.
The chapter shows Pramerica in a positive light as being a local leader in the field of security technology and other complementary professional services.
There will be more meetings planned for the future across Northwest in which technical experts will be sharing their exposure related to cyber security. The meetings will be of benefit to software professionals as well as students across the region to raise awareness of Cyber Security and its importance.
