If you love good food and supporting local producers, then you won’t want to miss the Dunfanaghy Food Festival! From a special dinner to a fun outdoor market, here’s what’s on the menu this weekend:
The popular seaside village of Dunfanaghy in North West Donegal will host its third annual food festival on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th September 2018.
The festival will begin with a Meet The Producers Dinner on Friday 28th at Arnolds Hotel which begins at 8pm.
Pre-dinner guests can enjoy Craft Beer Sampling with the team from Kinnegar Brewery followed by an exclusive 4 course menu featuring 4 Donegal Producers and their star ingredients. Each producer will be there to introduce their product and explain its origin and unique place on the Donegal food scene, as well as internationally.
An outdoor food market will take place on the Village Green (opposite Arnolds Hotel) on Saturday 29th September from 12-4pm.
Local businesses will join artisan producers to showcase the value in shopping local, using local and eating local. Familiar faces taking part include Sliabh Liag Distillery, Gallagher’s Premium Oysters, The Mill Restaurant, The Rusty Oven and Dunfanaghy Country Market.
As well as delicious sampling, visitors can enjoy food demonstrations, whiskey and gin tasting and entertainment from some of Donegal’s finest musicians.
Founder of the Dunfanaghy Food Festival Sian McCann said the appetite is definitely there to go bigger and better this year.
“The reaction to moving the festival to a marquee on the Village Green last year was fantastic and we received so many more visitors. We had even more enquiries this year from producers wanting to take part so we’ve extended the marquee size and are looking forward to another brilliant celebration of local food in Dunfanaghy.
“Our festival is a real celebration of buying local, cooking locally and eating local. All the businesses taking part are either based in Dunfanaghy or their product features in the local businesses based here. It’s something we are very proud of,” McCann added.
