More than €9 million have been raised by the people of Donegal for Good Causes in the county and across Ireland by playing National Lottery games, new figures reveal.
By playing games such as Lotto, EuroMillions, Daily Million and scratch cards, Donegal players have raised this figure in 2017 for the National Lottery Good Causes Fund which goes to community projects, sports clubs and other organisations across the country.
This funding plays a crucial role in creating, developing and sustaining such good causes. Thousands of local Donegal clubs and projects have benefitted from this funding, among them was one unique arts festival which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.
To mark the landmark birthday this year, the Earagail Arts Festival teamed up with the home of Clannad for a joint birthday bash.
For two weeks every summer, the entire county of Donegal is transformed into an amphitheatre for the Earagail international arts festival.
The festival hosted a special programme of events in the world-famous Leo’s Tavern, which is celebrating 50 years in the heart of the Gaeltacht.
The extended party took place last July and included special performances by the legendary Clannad and Hazel O’Connor, as well as a unique cabaret hosted by Daniel O’Donnell.
