A Donegal man has been interviewed in connection with the alleged sexual assault of three schoolgirls at last week’s Ploughing Championships.
The 20-year-old was spoken to by Gardai after he allegedly walked into a hotel room in which the girls were staying in Co Westmeath.
The girls, aged 15 and 16, were part of a large group of students from a school from Co Tipperary and were allegedly attacked in the early hours of last Thursday morning.
The man was with his parents and is from a small village in Donegal.
Although he was not arrested, he was spoken to by Gardai who will now decide if to press ahead with formal charges.
It is understood the young man entered the girls’ rooms and touched them.
The terrified girls then contacted hotel management who called Gardai.
The man was located and spoken to along with his parents.
