Breaking news: Shaun Paul Barrett steps down as Termon manager

Breaking news: Shaun Paul Barrett has stepped down as Termon manager today.

The Milford man’s departure comes following last night’s senior championship clash with Four Masters at The Burn Road.

Termon needed to win by 16 points to qualify for the quarter-finals. Despite being 14 points in front midway through the second half, Termon’s night – and their Championship hopes – capitulated in a stunning turnaround.

Termon won the game by the bare minimum, 3-8 to 3-7, but Four Masters went to the last eight and Termon are now facing a relegation play-off for their troubles.

After that game, Barrett said Termon had only themselves to blame for the result.

Termon suffered a heavy 3-16 to 0-9 loss to St Michael’s and were beaten 3-12 to 1-7 by Malin in their opening two SFC outings.

That came after they scraped through to defeat MacCumhaills in their final Division 2 game of the campaign – a win that, just, spared them the ordeal of relegation to Division 3.

Barrett is a former Donegal minor manager and won an Ulster MFC and League double in 2016. He had been interviewed for the Donegal senior and under-20 roles in 2017, with Declan Bonner and Gary McDaid appointed to those positions.

Barrett was subsequently appointed Termon boss.
