Minister Joe McHugh has announced funding of almost €10,000 for two groups in the Donegal Gaeltacht today.
Comharchumann Cheann Caslach in Kincasslagh, Gaoth Dobhair Aontaithe (Gweedore Utd FC) and Ionad Pobail Charraig Uí Bhaoill are to benefit from funding boosts for the improvement of community and sports facilities.
The Minister said: “I am delighted to have sanctioned €7,040 for Comharchumann Cheann Caslach, Kincasslagh to help them improve the facilities and I know this money will be put to good use to install emergency lights and fire alarms.”
“Halla Mhuire will be improved for the years ahead with support such as this. And everyone in the community is all too aware of the wonderful work that the group does in the local community.
“There is also the health and safety element and how grants like his ensure that the facilities are protected for the future and ensure events can continue to be held in the hall.”
Mr McHugh, Minister for the Irish language, Gaeltacht and the Islands, said: “And I am also pleased to see a club like Ghaoth Dobhair Aontaithe and Ionad Pobail Charraig Uí Bhaoill get the support it so richly deserves from my Department.
“It will be awarded almost €3,000 to help it with the costs for a new lawnmower and roller and the club’s efforts to improve facilities and support its work on local community sports and social events.
“I am sure that this funding will be of great assistance to them in maintaining these facilities to a high standard.
“I would also wish Pól MacAodh and all the volunteers, players and supporters at the club the very best on and off the pitch this season.”
The grants are being sanctioned under Action 2.13 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish language and the area for action An Ghaeltacht in the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030.
