Ronan Curtis returned to club action today and played a big role as Portsmouth climbed to the top of League One.
The St Johnston man was back at Pompey from international duty having been with the Republic of Ireland senior squad for the first time this week.
Curtis was part of the Irish panel for Tuesday’s friendly against Poland after being called in by Martin O’Neill on the back of an excellent start to the campaign that had already yielded five goals.
Curtis weighed in with two assists today as Portsmouth won away to fellow pace-setters Peterborough.
A 2-1 win at London Road has Curtis’s team at the summit.
Curtis set up Oli Hawkins for the opener and it was from his header into the danger zone that Jamal Lowe doubled the lead.
Matt Godden did pull a goal back, but Portsmouth held on.
Curtis limped off late on, but Portsmouth will certainly be hoping that it’s nothing more than a bang.
