Five Donegal boxers take to the ring tonight in the Dockworkers Club in Belfast for semi-finals at the Ulster Senior and Novice Championships.
There remains the possibility of an all-Donegal middleweight final with Raphoe’s Paul Darby and Oran Shields of Illies Golden Gloves having been kept apart in semi-finals.
Darby faces Tom Kearney from Gallbally in one semi-final
In the other, Shields – who has recently joined up with Illies having previously punched with Letterkenny ABC – takes on Dockers man Noel Donnelly.
Also in semi-finals, Dunree welter Charles Duffy faces Shane Murphy of Carrickmore and Illies Golden Gloves super-heavyweight Michael McConigley is up against Belfast’s David Ferrin.
In the Novice Championships, Letterkenny ABC’s Sean Devine meets Danny O’Sullivan from Randalstown in a semi.
Donegal already has two finalists for tomorrow night’s card.
Reigning Ulster Senior heavyweight champion Cathal Brown will take on Thomas Maughan from Cavan in the final.
And following an impressive mid-week win, Raphoe lightweight Dennis Lafferty – who beat Derek Kerr from Monkstown on Tuesday – will face Rory Lavery from the Holy Family Club in that final.
