UPCOMING EVENTS
Usual competitions this week.
Enjoy your golf. Please remember to replace divots and sprinkle with divot mix and repair pitch marks to greens.
READY GOLF.
Please note that Ready Golf is now in play at our club. You don’t need to be furthest away from the hole to play first. If you are good to play and your partners are not, just announce that you are good to play and proceed with your shot.
Remember; do your talking while you walking. It has been proved that if each player takes just five seconds less for each shot, you can save 20-30 minutes per round.(worth a try).

I have to say, that is some accomplishment. Damien, a +1 handicaper, had two fantastic round on Saturday to narrowly beat a good friend of his Stephen Martin on the second play off hole. Both guys finished the 36 holes on 138 and the two proceeded down the 37th with pars each and McKenna eventually beat his travelling companion on the 2nd play off hole. Normally two rounds of golf would be enough for any one but not Damien as he headed to Foyle GC the next day and the rest is history. A great weekend Damien.
Intermediate Scratch Cup
Congratulations to local man Martin Wilson on winning the Intermediate Scratch Cup. Martin was just one shot clear of Convoy man Mark Rodgers on 116 for the 27,holes with Thomas McBride in third spot.
WCC Golf Tournament.
B&S Golfer Tony Griffin got himself into the history books as the first golfer from all over Ireland to win the West Coast Challenge (WCC) back to back in its thirty two year history and in the process won the Rossnowlagh Cup .which a group of B&S golfers play for every year. This year’s chooses charity was the Donegal Hospice who cared for the Late Joe Henderson who himself was always very much to the fore in the same competitions and for good craic, there was none better. A fantastic €800 was raised over the course of the tournament from the twelve local lads that participated. Here’s to you Dark Cloud.
Teams
Michael Hynes and his Donegal Senoir Team do battle with Murvagh at home on Saturday 15th September in the first leg of the Donegal final. Best of Luck Lads.
JB Carr.
Our JB Carr Teams brilliant run came to an end in the All Ireland Finals when they came up against a top quality team from the K CLUB. This was a very emotional weekend for Team Captain Ivan Stewart who put in a great effort from the minute he was nominated to lead the team.
Congratulations to Ivan, team and all who were involved in the journey to the finals.
Donegal Minor League.
Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club played the second leg of Minor League semi final against Buncrana Golf Club and we had a mountain to surpass needing all 5 matches to reach the final and we almost pulled it off. Our first match out won 5/3, 4th match won 6/4 and 5th match won 7/6. The scenario was set for a close encounter 3 matches in needing our 2 matches on the course to bring in a result and down to the wire they went. Our second match was also an up and down affair but we eventually lost it on16th hole. The fight was over Buncrana needed just that one match to put them through to the final against Otway Golf club. Our final match was all square playing 16th and was called in. The Ballybofey and Stranorlar team under stewardship of John Patton was, B Kelly, P Finn, P Kavanagh, H Temple, D O’Connor, M. Johnston, C. Mc Hugh, P Callaghan, J Mc Hugh and O Finn.
The Ballybofey and Stranorlar Team wish Buncrana team all the best in the final and are looking forward to a new year next year.
