Michael Kelly nodded in approval as his St Michael’s came out of the Burn Road’s treacherous trenches with an impressive Championship win under their belts.
Group favourites St Michael’s had 16 points to spare after a 3-16 to 0-9 win over their neighbours.
“The win is the most important thing,” Kelly said as goals from Odhrán McFadden, Christy Toye and Martin McElhinney took St Michael’s clear.
“We had a seven-point lead at half-time. The goals came at times to kill the game.
“We won most of the battles and that’s all I could ask of them.”
Kelly hailed the performance of Man of the Match Michael Langan.
The St Michael’s manager said: “Michael was brilliant. There’s no doubt about it he’s a fantastic footballer. He’s one of the best in the air that we have in Donegal. He’s an unbelievable talent for his age.”
