A carer has appeared in court charged in connection with the theft of 35 lambs.
John McBride appeared at Letterkenny District Court in Co Donegal charged in connection with the theft of the animals.
McBride, of 11 Firmount, Milford, was arrested on Wednesday, September 5th and taken to Milford Garda station for questioning.
The value of the lambs allegedly stolen from lands at Carrownagannonagh, Milford is €2,100 by Garda Enda Jennings.
Solicitor for the accused, Mr Patsy Galagher, indicated that there would be a plea in the case.
He said he was keen to have the animals returned to their rightful owner, Mr Michael Cullen.
“Because of the nature of the product there is a cost fact in feeding them,” said Mr Gallagher.
He said he was applying for legal aid in the case as Mr McBride, aged 47, was a carer and his only form of income was social welfare.
He asked Judge Paul Kelly to adjourn the case until October 17th to allow time for the tag numbers of the lambs to be sorted out and to go through other matters.
