Shaun Paul Barrett has been through the mill already this season – but was just glad to see his Termon produce the goods and secure Division 2 survival last night.
After a rocky start, Termon climbed into contention for promotion, but a madcap campaign ended with them needed a win over Sean MacCumhaills to survive.
“Our destiny was in our own hands and we got the rub of the green thanks to the way we played,” Barrett said after a high-octane 1-16 to 1-15 win that denied MacCumhaills the Division 2 title.
“It’s a place we shouldn’t have been because we lost three home games.
“It was a massive battle and it was always going to be.
“All we were looking at was getting the team right and getting a big performance. The attitude was right and they wanted to do it. I have to give them great credit.”
