The family of Rachel Elliott, the young mum who was critically injured in the Bundoran car tragedy, have shared a hopeful update following her surgery yesterday.
Rachel Elliott (25) from Irvinestown, Co Fermanagh, underwent surgery on her back on Monday to treat injuries resulting from the fatal car crash in Bundoran on August 19th.
Rachel’s family have said the surgery went well, but they must now wait to see the extent of her injuries.
Her sister Donna posted on social media: “Rachel has come out of surgery with all going good. Still a waiting game to see if she will be fit to walk or not..nothing is going to put our Rachel down.”
Prayers are continuing for Rachel as she recovers in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. The mum-of-one suffered life-changing injuries to her brain, back and pelvis when she was thrown from a Peugeot 306 car in the horror crash in Bundoran.
The crash claimed the lives of two people and left three others injured.
Shiva Devine, aged 20, who was from Ballintra but lived in Belleek, Co Fermanagh, died alongside Conall McAleer, also aged 20 and from Fermanagh. The young victims were laid to rest last week.
