The family of Doochary man Jason Hanlon have successfully received confirmation that his much-needed spinal surgery will take place this Autumn.
Jason (26) has been living in extreme pain with scoliosis as he waits for a vital operation to fix the curvature of his spine at Tallaght Hospital. His case came into focus this summer after his operation was pushed back on two occasions and his family feared that he could not endure another winter.
The good news came to Jason’s parents yesterday when a letter arrived from Tallaght Hospital.
In the letter, the Chief Operations Officer of Tallaght told the family that his operation is planned to take place in Autumn.
After months of worry, pain and campaigning, this letter comes as a great relief to the family and all those who have supported Jason.
Jason’s sister Aine shared the news on Facebook, saying “We have won the fight for Jason!!!”
On behalf of Jason and the family, Aine thanked every person who supported Jason’s fight:
“So from the bottom of my heart here is a big thank you from a very happy boy Jason and an even happier family. You should all be so proud. We will be forever grateful,” said Aine.
“Jason may be non-verbal however his voice has been truly heard throughout all of Ireland and throughout the world! I’m pretty positive that Jason has a huge smile on his face tonight. What a guy! Here’s to Jason’s future!”
