Donegal fiddler Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh has shared her delight at the return of a missing instrument lost at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil.
The Altan star took to social media at the weekend to appeal for help after her cousin’s fiddle was taken at the West Court Hotel in Drogheda.
Mairead shared a happy ending to the tale yesterday when it emerged that the fiddle was found by a friend and returned to its rightful owner.
Mairead told Donegal Daily readers: “It was a cousin’s fiddle, it was lifted but left intact behind a door and a friend saw the distinctive Donegal sticker and knew exactly that it was the missing instrument.”
Social media played a helping hand in the appeal, Mairead said, and thanks to the distinctive sticker it will be coming home to the hills again.
