Avril McNamee gets her 2018 World Handball Championship bid underway later today.
The Sean MacCumhaills woman is in action at the Championships which are held in the University of Minnesota’s Recreation and Wellness Centre.
McNamee has two quarter-finals to play today.
In the Female Singles 4-Wall (small ball) A Championships, McNamee meets Meadhbh Ní Dhálaigh from Dublin.
McNamee has a quarter-final in the Female Singles 4-Wall (small ball) B Championships against home player Julie Creemers, who overcame Carina Aguilar 10-21 21-13 21-11 in her round of 16 game.
McNamee has traveled to the US with her coach, Paddy Murray.
The Ballybofey woman won gold in the US Open of Handball Championships in 2016.
