Dylan Browne McMonagle made history at the three day Dingle Race Festival in what’s known as the Cheltenham of Horse & Pony racing.
At the weekend in Co Kerry all three regions raced as one and this is where all top jockeys compete to be Champion Jockey.
Dylan was crowned Champion Jockey in 2016 with six winners then made it back to back Championships in 2017 with five wins.
The Letterkenny teenager went on to make history at the weekend with a whopping nine winners and lifted hid third title something that most jockeys dream off.
Dylan started of Friday with a treble aboard Northern Star, Half Price and Five Stone Of Lead. On Saturday he guided Northern Star, Unhinged, Little Spirit and Five Stone Of Lead to victory to make it seven winners.
Going into Sunday he was victorious on Just For James and made it the triple crown over the weekend on the prolific Five Stone Of Lead to bring his tally to 9 and lift the Champions Trophy for the third year.
The other local winners for the weekend where Aideens Dream for the Holians of Ballyare in the mile race on Saturday and Little Spirit took the 138cm for the Sweeneys from Oldtown.
Mr Mac took the concluding Race on the Sunday for the McLaughlin and McGinley combination which concluded a great weekend for the northern region.
Dylan Browne Mc Monagle quoted in his documentary done by Just So productions back in 2015: ”All I want to become is a Champion Jockey” and the modest and very likeable young man is certainly going the right way about it.
He headed off on Monday afternoon to England to spend a few days with the 20 times champion AP and Chantelle McCoy who invited him over for a relaxing few days.
During his stay he will ride out with AP in his yard and at Jackdaw’s Castle a famous racing yard. A well deserved few days away after a busy weekend for Dylan.
