A teenager has been awarded €10,000 after he was knocked off his bike on the way to play a game of snooker.
The boy, who was sixteen when the accident happened in November, 2016, was struck by the car which came out of a driveway at Newline Road in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.
The boy was cycling the bike which was owned by his friend whom he was carrying as a passenger.
Letterkenny Circuit Court was told he was thrown over the bonnet of the car and initially got up and did not suffer any noticeable injuries.
The female driver of the car checked if the boy was okay and he carried out to play his game of snooker.
However, he later complained of pains to his neck, knee and back and was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where he suffered soft tissue injuries.
He later suffered headaches and some loss of memory.
Representing the boy, barrister Fiona Crawford said the boy had since made a full recovery and they were happy to accept the offer made and this was agreed by Judge John Aylmer.
