Gardai are hunting a four-man gang after a series of daring raids across Donegal overnight.
The gang broke into at least two businesses and tried to steal safes in both.
The men, driving a BMW, broke into both Coyle’s Centra shop in Raphoe and also Tinney’s Oil at Bonagee outside Letterkenny.
The first raid took place at Coyles around 4am when the gang tried to smash through the upstairs and also front door of the shop.
However, Gardai were alerted and were on the scene quickly.
The gang then travelled to Letterkenny where they targeted Tinney’s Oil.
The gang caused a large amount of damage as they tried to remove the safe from the premises.
However, an alarm was activated and Gardai arrived.
Despite trying to stop the culprits, the gang managed to mount a footpath and escape in their BMW car.
However, it is understood that Gardai have very good CCTV footage of the suspects.
A full investigation into both raids are now underway with forensic teams at both locations.
