Donegal men Mark English and Brendan Boyce have been selected on the Irish squad for the European Athletics Championships, which begin next week in Berlin.
English and Boyce are among 42 Irish athletes who have been named for the 24th staging of the Championships.
English was a bronze medallist in the 800m in Zurich four years ago.
The Letterkenny man and UCD AC runner yesterday won his sixth Irish 800m title. It was the fifth in-a-row for English, who had been an injury doubt after pulling up towards the end of the 800m race at the Morton Games.
Finn Valley AC’s Boyce will go in the 50k race walk in Berlin.
Boyce did a 3:53:32 over 50k in China in May and will look to be competitive in the Europeans.
World U20 silver medallist Sommer Lecky had qualified for this Championships but having nursed an injury upon her return from Finland, the Finn Valley AC high jumper is not in the squad.
