Letterkenny University Hospital is Ireland’s most overcrowded hospital this morning.

Fugures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show 40 people are awaiting admission at LUH today.

Seven of those are on Emergency Department trollies with 33 more patients waiting in wards.

It is an increase from the 22 who were awaiting admission yesterday.

There are 31 people awaiting admission in Cork University Hospital and 28 at Midlands Regional and South Tipperary hospitals respectively.

The national total for today is 333 people awaiting admission, 218 of which are on Emergency Department trollies.
